An elderly man stopped me in the grocery store tod An elderly man stopped me in the grocery store today to say hi to my baby boy (he is quite the social butterfly and stops people everywhere we go). He said, “I’ll tell you one thing. The most fun I had in my entire life was during the years I was raising my children.”

Not gonna lie, “fun” is not the first word that comes to mind sometimes when my baby skips naps or eats dirt out of our plants or throws his food all over the floor, but I’ve been thinking a lot about what that kind man said. Of all the experiences he’d had in his lifetime, the years he spent teaching and chasing down his little ones and were the most fun and memorable.

I’ve been trying to relax more and enjoy this time with my son while he’s busy learning and discovering and exploring the world. I hope that I’ll be able to look back when I’m old and grey like that man at the store and say, “You know what? That was FUN!”

Voice memo from my song “Alaska”. It’s alway Voice memo from my song “Alaska”. It’s always sweet to listen back to the first ideas that are captured as a song is being written. I love hearing how songs evolve and change before they become the recorded version you hear!

I have received the kindest messages about this song from people who currently live in or are missing their home in Alaska, which is such a compliment to me as a songwriter who simply imagined what it would be like to go there. Thank you for listening! #alaska #alaskalife
It was so special for me to put together this vide It was so special for me to put together this video for “Take Me With You”. In every clip I found, my Grandpa was smiling or laughing, so happy. I miss him so much but am grateful for his example of optimism and love of life that I hope to emulate. Link to watch the music video is in my story + highlights.

I wrote “Take Me With You” while my sweet Gran I wrote “Take Me With You” while my sweet Grandpa was in the hospital, just before he passed away last October.

My grandparents met when they were just 13 years old, and I wrote the lyrics from my Grandma’s perspective. I can’t imagine what it is like for her to have lost her sweetheart of 51 years, but I tried to convey the hope that she has through Jesus Christ that they will be reunited again one day.

Music has always been how I process the ups and downs of my life, and this song came to me at a time when I really needed comfort. I continue to sing it whenever I miss my Grandpa, and though most of the time I get too choked up to sing it all the way through, I hope that somehow he can hear it and that it makes him proud.

I also hope that “Take Me With You” will offer you comfort if you have lost or are missing someone you love. Link to listen is in my bio and stories. #takemewithyou #singersongwriter #acousticfolk
